Albino & Preto is moving into another corner of sneaker culture with a new collaboration alongside atmos and ASICS. The Albino & Preto x atmos x ASICS GEL-KAYANO 12.1 has been previewed in two different colorways, bringing the jiu-jitsu label’s aesthetic to the retro-inspired running model. Releasing August 28, 2026, for $175 each.
The collaboration brings together three names with different backgrounds. Albino & Preto built its reputation on jiu-jitsu gis, training gear, and lifestyle apparel, while atmos has worked with ASICS on several projects. This time, the ASICS GEL-KAYANO 12.1 serves as the basis for the project.
Two versions have surfaced so far. One uses a mostly White and Metallic Silver foundation, while the other takes a much darker route with Black covering most of the upper. Both pairs use glossy materials and add Volt Green to the branding and other details.
The midsole is where the collaboration gets another noticeable change. A gradient treatment moves from the darker sections into Volt Green, giving the shoes a brighter finish underneath. “Albino” branding is molded into the midsole, while a repeating X pattern runs across the side for another connection to the jiu-jitsu label.
The model borrows the tooling from the GEL-NIMBUS 17. The setup includes GEL cushioning inserts in the forefoot and heel, along with FLUIDRIDE cushioning through the midsole. This gives the GEL-KAYANO 12.1 a modern performance setup while keeping the look connected to its 2000s running roots.
