Any fashion week is a sprint of invite-only, friends & family, and otherwise highly exclusive events. That goes for both attendees and designers; the fight for an up & coming designer to make it to the official calendar is even more harrowing than the politics of where you’ll be seated for a given showing. KidSuper aimed to put his own salve on either issue in 2025 with “The People’s Runway,” as founder Colm Dillane sought to use his platform to cede the opportunities afforded to a brand of his size to those earlier in their journeys.
The People’s Runway returned for its second annual edition, this time carrying the backdrop of Brooklyn’s Borough Hall. Along with the support of Borough President Antonio Reynoso and several other sponsors, Converse helped foot the bill for the evening. That was visible on-feet, as those walking for the night’s lineup (Tender Armor, Forms of Water, LEGACY, Gettin’ Fly, and iDEK (I Don’t Even Know) sported the Chuck Taylor Throwback.
Following a brief showcase of what KidSuper has in store for the next year, Wyclef Jean sauntered out of the hall for a special performance, eventually joined by the legend Lauryn Hill to close out the event. Beyond just who was on stage, the attendees were similarly star-studded; Wisdom Kaye, Fabolous, Jim Jones, Joey Bada$$, Serge Ibaka, NLE Choppa, Franciso Lindor, and Mark Vientos were just some of those who made the trip to Downtown Brooklyn.
Given KidSuper’s existing multi-brand rolodex, currently supporting partnerships with both PUMA and BAPE, The People’s Runway left us wondering whether we’ll ever see KidSuper x Converse hit our front page. In the meantime, catch shots of the evening’s festivities below.
