Leaking isn’t an exact science. Just this year, we saw a version of that come to life; the Virgil Abloh Archive Air Jordan 1 “Alaska” was initially reported two years ago, before being “cancelled,” before being confirmed for a release again, all transpiring before we saw a single image of the updated version. In more straightforward fashion, rumors began circulating in 2024 that the Nike Air Force 1 Low “PlayStation,” long a grail of diehard collectors, could be coming back to the shelves, one of the first real dominoes in the “open the vault” discourse that ruled the sneaker sphere in that period.
Though coveted peers like the Wu-Tang Nike Dunk High and Undefeated Air Jordan 4 did see the light of day anew, the Sony Entertainment product was eventually struck down, leaving those who have long dreamt of adding the patent leather classics to their closets unfulfilled. We do wish we had news to the contrary, but in lieu of that, images of what could have been have started making the rounds courtesy of Uptown connoisseur @pgknows1.
Replete with the glossy black body, blue/purple fade collars, and embroidered Sony branding, word is that this is just one of ten pairs manufactured. Obviously the shoe didn’t come to light, but perhaps this is a window into what could’ve been had the process gone any further than an initial, internal test run. If so, the idea was to hem extremely close to that vaunted original design, with even slighter details like primary-color Air text and black/red Nike Air branding on the heels intact.
