Nike Basketball will expand on Kobe Bryant’s signature line with two new versions, including a high-end model known as the Nike Kobe NXT Prototype. The shoes were the last model that Kobe worked on in partnership with Eric Avar and Bryant Klug. Also releasing in 2027 is the Kobe NXT 1.0.
The shoe was recently teased at the 2026 Mamba Invitational in Los Angeles. Its outsole appeared in artist Troy “TYP” Murray’s “Sole Obsession” art piece, which featured outsoles from previous Kobe models. This gave us our first look at the next chapter of Kobe’s signature line.

The first confirmed colorway is dressed in a Sail, Black, and Phantom color scheme. For this model, Kobe Bryant aimed for the shoe to be the lightest and most responsive Kobe ever, without sacrificing court feel and containment. The shoes will feature a Sail cloth upper, ZoomX 3.0 drop-in midsole, Synergia mid-foot shank plate, and a carbon fiber plate.

Bottom Line
Hearing that the Kobe signature line will expand after his passing has had some mixed opinions from fans. However, the fact that he worked on the sneakers before his passing may change some minds. It also seems that Bryant was ahead of his time with the release of the NXT Prototype, and other overall tech highlights will more than likely be great on-court.
