Perhaps it’s their work with New Balance and ASICS that takes up the most headlines, but quiet as kept, KITH is keenly aware of Salomon’s continually rising star. Bracketing a catalog that already includes work on the XT-Voyager 2, custom branded XT-4s, the XT-6, and the XT-Whisper, KITH and Salomon last made each other’s acquaintance with the XT-EVO, the French outdoors company enlisting Ronnie Fieg’s label to debut an all-new silhouette.
This newest branch on Salomon’s flagship XT line is quite literally built on its predecessors. The XT-6 platform is in tow for this fresh member, but it’s not the sole that’s the most noteworthy addition. Solidly constructed yet partially translucent “liquid rubber” synthetics form a wrap-around cage, creating a checkered grid towards the eyestay and a sharp, fluid series of “teeth” down the length of the toe.
Though the brand utilizes a “goes-with-everything” all-black in this set of debut colorways, the new construction’s upper/lower split takes center stage with a “Black/Fiery Red” and an “Alloy/Castlerock” that each knowingly accentuate that layout. The Salomon XT-EVO is available now via the Salomon webstore in all three colorways, retailing for $200 a piece.
