“Vis-tech” isn’t going anywhere, as fans of adidas’ Megaride, Nike’s Shox or “Premium” running families, or even ASICS’ GEL-Fluent series could attest to. When it comes to New Balance, no doubt that continuing wave is part of the reason that the original 2002 platform has become absolutely inescapable in their offerings; Ronnie Fieg’s 2011, the inline 1954, and the 1890 all build their designs off of that full-length cushioning set-up.
For those who may not resonate with that hardware or simply want a different flavor, the New Balance 2000 has built out a massive backlog of colorways since coming to the market in 2025. Though it recently looked back at its debut “Agate Blue” and continues to toy with lightened pastels in that mold, the New Balance 2000 “Black Cement” demonstrates its strengths on the dark side. Here, the synthetics in the upper primarily focus on black and grey, while the red ABZORB pods below and some trim around the panels are enough to bring some real edge into the equation.
This New Balance 2000 is actually part of an end-of-season sale for the Boston brand, currently clocking in at just $100 at the time of this writing. Short of that, be ready for the usual $170. Check for your size using the links below.
