Time moves fast in sneakerland. It really does feel like just yesterday, Ronnie Fieg was giving us our first look at two colorways of a then-unreleased silhouette, the New Balance 2010, outfitted in two vibrant colorways that only accentuated the moment. In the time since, Ronnie Fieg have shifted one number up, currently rolling out his co-designed New Balance 2011, the 2010 has lent its sole unit to Action Bronson’s own “sig shoe,” and the model is largely left to its own devices to keep the energy up.
Turning to a completely new aesthetic is just the right prescription for that, now trying out gradient foundations for the first time as part of a three-pack of similarly blocked looks beginning to hit shelves. It’s truly two that embrace this ombre concept, either one leaning on nocturnal color combos of royal/lavender and black/grey, but joined in wearing light-to-dark gradations on their mesh bases. Though not choosing that same aesthetic, a bronzed pair nonetheless carries the same darkened trim across the mudguard and eyelets, a striking choice that visually highlights the “N” brand.
Release particulars for all three of these New Balance 2010 colorways differ a bit from pair to pair; the “Pink Salt” is available at Champs, the “Harbor Grey” at DTLR, while the “Meteorite” hasn’t hit any yet. Assuredly, a wide NewBalance.com release is just around the corner for all three, with a $145 retail price expected across the board.
