The Nike Air Bakin already has quite a year ahead of it. On top of taking on a new shortened build as the Air Bakin Low, previewed at Paris Fashion Week, we’ve also gotten word that the Hardaway-worn model will provide the earnest entrance of Jae Tips into the Beaverton canon. However, before any of those festivities take place, the Air Bakin has to truly get its retro moment started, and concrete word of the “Royal” release helps that move along.
Though the flame-licked “Varsity Red” will forever be the essential look for the Air Bakin, this palette-swapped OG has a strong argument for the #2 spot. Serving as an aquatic foil, this colorway’s status within Nike is already cemented, obviously part of the original rollout when the silhouette stepped in during the late 90’s. Further, it’s been a factor in its subsequent bring-backs; a 2008 revisitation each carved space for the “Royal” within those plans. This version remains true to the standard arrangement, utilizing wavy blue siding and Nike Air hits before splaying into a traditional sport split between black and white in the remaining real estate.
Again, the Nike Air Bakin “Royal” touches down on November 12th with a $170 retail price.
