The Sandal-Like New Balance 204V Continues Its Rollout With Pastel Tones

We’ve given New Balance its due flowers for pioneering the sneaker-loafer movement, but there’s another hybrid genre the brand is now venturing into: the sandal. Informed in part by the rise of Mary Jane hybrids, ballet flats, and slip-on silhouettes of all sorts, New Balance has given the 204L a laceless makeover for a sandal/water shoe sort of vibe, an on-trend spin on one of the brand’s newest models. Following a sporty debut set featuring bright colors, the model continues its rollout with a shift into pastel, contemporary tones for August.

The New Balance 204V iterates on the 204L with a new closure system, ditching the tongue and laces in favor of a Velcro strap that crosses over onto the lateral side, covering part of the exposed forefoot. The toe layering has been adjusted to suit the new construction, and the medial “N” logos are removed for the sake of simplicity. Otherwise, the same tech runner layering, mesh foundation, and slim sole unit remain intact.

Arriving August 2026 are three pastel colorways occupying a clean, contemporary lane: Zinc Blue, Meteorite, and a standard Blue, each featuring a familiar combination of mesh, leather, and suede. All three pairs will be available from New Balance in women’s sizing for $120. See official images below if you’re a fan.
