The Air Jordan 17 OG “College Blue” is finally set to make its first retro return in 2027, giving one of Michael Jordan’s Wizards-era sneakers a long-awaited comeback. Originally released in February 2002, the pair is expected to return during NBA All-Star Weekend, lining up with the model’s 25th anniversary.
Michael Jordan wore the Air Jordan 17 “College Blue” during his time with the Washington Wizards, which gives this release added weight for longtime fans of that era. While Jordan Brand has revisited the low-top version in recent years, this mid-top OG has stayed in the vault, making its return one of the more notable retros on the 2027 calendar.
White leather covers the upper, while the signature black removable shroud returns with the model’s music-inspired detailing. College Blue wraps part of the midsole, lace lock, and outsole accents, keeping the colorway true to the original 2002 release. Chrome heel details and the performance-focused cushioning setup also help preserve the look that made the Air Jordan 17 stand apart when it first launched.

The Air Jordan 17 was designed by Wilson Smith III and pulled inspiration from jazz music, luxury design, and performance innovation. That identity helped separate it from other Jordan models at the time, especially with premium touches like the original metal briefcase packaging and CD-ROM insert. It is still unclear if Jordan Brand will bring back the briefcase for this 2027 retro, but the shoe itself already carries plenty of nostalgia on its own.
