Metagirl Studios Teases Upcoming Vans Collaboration

by thesneakerscroll@gmail.com

If you took a shot every time you saw the word “charms” on our site, you’d be lights out before noon every day. That’s how dominant accessorized footwear has become, something frequently laid at the feet of the California company, whose Satoshi Nakamoto Vans link-ups and resulting “Charms,” “La Habana,” and “Souvenir” series nearly made the concept a household name.

In our (totally unbiased) opinions, Caterina Mongillo aka METAGIRL is underrated in that conversation, taking massive swings away from traditional form by bringing jeweled, bedazzled, and otherwise radical materiality to everyday staples. Thus, it’s beyond a natural fit that the designer and company have joined hands. Recently utilizing a Nakamoto pair and an Old Skool for bespoke customized versions, evidently those were only appetizers for a full-blown partnership.

Beyond flexing co-branded “METAGIRL VANS” insoles and checkerboard packaging, this announcement comes with a few teaser images of several shoes. One, no doubt a far-ahead sample given its 2024 timestamps, shows off embedded metal notches into the sole of a Slip-On. The most full-fledged reveals an all-white Old Skool with a belt buckle attachment, shimmering horseshoe closure, and faux croc leather. Finally, a top-down view of a third pair utilized frayed edges on the tongue, though much detail beyond that is obscured.

Tracing back, first word of the METAGIRL x Saucony Paramount came in June before an August public launch. Whether this METAGIRL x Vans partnership follows the same cadence or not, we’ll keep you up to date with the latest via this page and our Sneaker Release Dates hub.
