Throughout 2025, as the Nike Air Max 95 relished in all its 30-year anniversary and the Air Jordan 5 similarly gallivanted as it checked off the big 3-5, we frequently wondered aloud where the same fanfare for the Nike Air Max 90 was. Save for the trilateral Grateful Ducks collaboration it let loose towards the end of the year, it felt like little attention was paid to Tinker Hatfield’s design even if it was numerically celebrating that milestone.
Whether it’s to right that wrong, or more simply, Nike didn’t want two Visible Air icons dueling it out simultaneously, the Nike Air Max 90 has come out strong in ’26; efforts by Patta, mainline material reduxes, and the impending soccer-inspired capsule all speak to that. Beyond new designs, it appears that some notable retros are in the works, as the “Liquid Metal” series trickles back into the consciousness. “Rose Gold” and “Gold” pairs, not pictured here, are on the way back, but we’re here focusing our attention on the “Metallic Silver.” True to the 2020 originals, fully chrome uppers meet more staid white collars and platforms for a can’t-miss yet nonetheless complementary combination.
The Nike Air Max 90 “Liquid Silver” has already started hitting select retail partners, indicating that a wide launch via additional stockists and Nike.com is around the corner. We’ll keep you posted with any and all launch details as they solidify.
