Back in 2020, J Balvin and Jordan Brand shook up the sneaker world with the release of the Air Jordan 1 “Colores Y Vibras”, one of the boldest and most colorful takes on the silhouette ever created. Covered in vibrant neon hues, jagged-edge overlays, and rainbow detailing inspired by Balvin’s energetic personality, the collaboration immediately stood apart from the more traditional color palettes typically associated with the Air Jordan 1. Now, six years later, an unexpected alternate version of that same collaboration has suddenly surfaced. Shared by a Jordan Brand employee known for showcasing rare samples and unreleased exclusives, newly revealed images display the “Colores Y Vibras” Air Jordan 1 in a striking all-black makeover. While the original release thrived on loud colors and playful energy, this sample flips the concept entirely, replacing the multicolor arrangement with stealthy blacked-out panels throughout the upper. Signature details including the jagged-cut overlays and exposed foam construction remain intact, but the tonal execution gives the shoe an entirely different personality.
The timing is especially interesting given Balvin’s next Jordan Brand collaboration, an upcoming Air Jordan 4 expected later this year, has already generated considerable anticipation among fans. Although this all-black Air Jordan 1 sample was never intended for public release, it offers a fascinating look into the alternate design directions Jordan Brand explored behind the scenes during one of the most memorable collaborations of the last decade.
