It feels like we rarely get the most anticipated match-ups in the playoffs, the ones that fans in comment sections at large pray to see for a full seven games. This year, the basketball gods were kind, and we’re staring down the heavyweight bout that is Spurs v. Thunder at long last.
With Shai Gilgeous-Alexander setting a foundation for his Converse SHAI 001 during the (MVP-winning) regular season, OKC’s frontman had used what few games the Thunder have had to play in the postseason to step into new territory. As the WCF tips off, that’s unchanged: the latest in a lineage that now includes two full leather executions in the “Ink” and “Steel” is the snakeskin “Slither.” Though SGA has teased color blocking experimentation with two-tone PEs, each of these “Premium” steps keep to flooded concepts while still advancing the ball all the same. Crackly, true-to-life rattlesnake textures dance through the uppers and are finished with more conventional olive tonality in the collars and outsoles.
We’re likely to see the man himself debut the Converse SHAI 001 Premium “Slither” on court in Game 1, but the Thunder season will be in the rear view by the time these hit the market. At the time of this writing, next up in the story is the SHAI 001 “Steel” dropping on June 11.
