adidas is adding a zip-covered version of its lightweight runner with the upcoming adidas Adizero Evo SL Zip. The model is expected to release globally in early June, with pricing still unconfirmed. Expect it to sit above the standard Adizero Evo SL, which retails for $150.

The biggest change is the zippered shroud over the upper. It gives the Evo SL a sharper, more race-day look, but adidas is not turning the shoe into something completely different. The base still comes from the Super Light runner, just with a more covered build and a stronger visual link to older adidas track spikes from roughly 20 years ago.

Five colorways are expected for the launch: “White Black,” “Black,” “White,” “Frozen Lemon,” and “Iridescent.” “Frozen Lemon” is the standout if you want the loudest version, while the white and black pairs keep things more wearable. “Iridescent” adds another layer to the zip design and gives the group a more futuristic option.

Performance details appear to stay close to the original Adizero Evo SL, though the shrouded upper could make the shoe feel a little different on foot. That is probably the point. adidas is giving the model a new personality without losing the fast, stripped-down identity that made the Evo SL stand out.

The adidas Adizero Evo SL Zip feels like a smart extension of the line, especially with running shoes continuing to move beyond strictly performance use. It brings in some archive flavor, updates the silhouette visually, and gives adidas another Adizero option with more attitude than the standard build.
