Nike is serving up another familiar “Neon” variation on the Air Max Dn8. But unlike a straight AM95 homage, this colorway offers something a little different. The Nike Air Max Dn8 “Black Neon” applies that black-and-Volt color combo to a much more technical silhouette.
Available now at Nike Canada, this Dn8 is expected to launch stateside at Nike.com soon. Though we haven’t seen an exact US release date.
Black marble reigns supreme over most of the upper, while flashes of Volt tear through overlays, Swooshes, and visible Max units. The inspiration from Sergio Lozano’s Air Max 95 “Neon” colorway should be pretty obvious to die-hard Air Max aficionados. But Nike makes the Dn8 language feel just a bit fresh. The swooped webbing and misshapen green colors give off more of an electric vibe than reminiscent.
Nike doesn’t waste any time visually with its full-length Dynamic Air system. Eight visible pressurized tubes lace up underfoot, providing signature looks and spring-loaded cushioning. In this instance, the neon green Air pockets also work to bring the entire design together instead of popping bright sections on the upper only.
A clean mixture of past and future, the Nike Air Max Dn8 “Black Neon” lands comfortably between old school Air Max feels and Nike’s current course with the platform. It dips into one of the brands biggest palettes, but the end result feels forward thinking.
