Stone Island is adding its name to the New Balance 1890, giving the hybrid runner another major collaboration before the model fully settles into the market.
Early images reveal two colorways for the Stone Island x New Balance 1890. As expected both play into the brand’s signature color palette of understated tones and tactical style. First up is a darker olive and charcoal colorblock layered over cream while the other colorway opts for lighter grey, soft green and off-white hues.
The New Balance 1890 has already built an impressive early roster. Action Bronson, Joe Freshgoods, and JJJJound have all been tied to the silhouette, making this one of New Balance’s strongest new collaborative pushes in recent memory. Instead of slowly introducing the model through general releases, the brand appears to be using trusted names to give the 1890 more weight right away.
Stone Island’s version fits that strategy well. Both pairs feature layered mesh and synthetic panels across the upper, shaggy suede around the heel, and a sculpted midsole with visible cushioning underfoot. The “N” logo blends into the side panels instead of standing out too loudly, while Stone Island branding appears on the tongue for a clean collaborative mark.
The darker pair adds a bright neon green hit near the heel, giving the shoe its sharpest pop of color. Meanwhile, the lighter pair feels more subdued, almost like an outdoor-focused runner built for everyday wear. That balance between technical design and wearable color blocking is exactly where Stone Island and New Balance usually connect best.
New Balance has not announced official release details for the Stone Island x New Balance 1890. However, with early pairs already surfacing, more information on pricing, availability, and launch timing should follow soon.
