Lil Yachty is heading in a different direction with his Nike collaboration, as first looks showcase a Concrete Boys x Nike Air Force 1 Mid constructed in a recycled-esque grey colorway.
Since he debuted his Concrete Boys run on the Air Force 1 Low, Yachty seems to be transitioning into mid-tops. The transition works for this colorway because the larger silhouette allows for more room to showcase the raw canvas, strap configuration and extra logo elements.
The top is predominantly covered in a speckled grey fabric, which gives the sneaker a rugged, DIY aesthetic. Nike enthusiasts might recognise the material from the brand’s Space Hippie period, which saw waste-material construction and recycled-style accents incorporated into a number of shoes in 2020. Still, Nike hasn’t officially confirmed any Space Hippie ties for this one.
Inspired by their namesake, the Concrete Boys x Nike Air Force 1 Mid has that same speckled theme underfoot, complete with grey laces and tonal hardware. It even carries over the iconic ankle strap for added style, dressing up the classic AF 1 Mid silhouette with a dirtier aesthetic than seen on Yachty’s previous lows.
Embroidery details bring the collaboration full circle. “IT’S US” spans across the tongue tag, while a Concrete Boys embroidery hits close to the heel.
Release details for the Concrete Boys x Nike Air Force 1 Mid have not been announced yet.
