Jordan Brand will bring football culture to downtown Manhattan with Copa Do Lower East Side, a free community event taking place at Seward Park.
The one-day gathering connects eight Lower East Side staples: Awake, LAAMS, Scarr’s Pizza, Cafe Colmado, Luke’s, Cellar 36, Bar Asoko, and BRUT. Each name plays a different role in the neighborhood, ranging from fashion and food to nightlife, hospitality, art, and local culture.
Copa Do Lower East Side is built around friendly football matches, but the day goes further than the pitch. Food, music, and community programming will help turn Seward Park into a neighborhood gathering space, reflecting the same weekend energy seen across New York’s public parks.
Awake NY founder Angelo Baque said he wanted to bring the feel of Flushing Meadow Park to the Lower East Side. That reference gives the event its real shape. In Queens and across the city, football often becomes a full community scene, especially within Hispanic and Latino neighborhoods. Families post up along the sidelines, pickup games run for hours, and the sport becomes a reason for everyone to come together.
Jordan Brand’s involvement gives the event a larger platform while keeping the focus on local voices. Instead of building the day around product first, Copa Do Lower East Side highlights storefronts and community spaces already connecting New Yorkers across generations.
Awake NY is also expected to release a limited-edition jersey during the weekend, adding a collectible apparel piece tied directly to the football-focused celebration.
Copa Do Lower East Side is free to the public and takes place at Seward Park in Manhattan. Doors open at 2 PM ET.
