The Basketcase x New Balance Gator Run “Hacky” and “Maiden” brings Basketcase back into New Balance’s lineup with two soccer-minded takes on a vintage sports model. The release falls under “The Alternates,” a concept built around players who do not always fit the expected mold but still give a team its personality.
The Gator Run starts with football roots, though Basketcase pulls it into a fútbol lane with color doing most of the work. Both pairs use mesh and suede uppers with gum outsoles, white lining, and extra laces. The setup stays simple, which is the right move for a shoe already carrying this much color.
“Hacky” goes straight for the pitch reference with yellow side panels and shaggy green suede overlays. It is the more obvious pair of the two, but the gum sole helps keep it grounded.
“Maiden” takes a less direct approach. Wine overlays sit on top of a light blue base, giving the release a second option that feels connected without looking like a simple color swap. Vintage-style star logos hit the heel, while “BASKET” and “CASE” branding is split across the left and right shoes.
The Basketcase x New Balance Gator Run “Hacky” and “Maiden” releases June 12th at 12 PM PST through Basketcase’s website. Los Angeles gets an in-store release on June 13th and June 14th, followed by a wider drop on June 19th through NewBalance.com and select retailers.
Each colorway retails for $130. Basketcase keeps the Gator Run in its old-school sportswear lane, but the colors and theme give the model a more distinct point of view.
