The sneaker world is keyed in on Los Angeles ahead of NBA All-Star Weekend in February, and per usual, Nike and Jordan Brand are pulling out all the stops. For its part, the Jumpman is set to pay homage to the city where MJ won his first ‘chip with a handful of “Lakers” releases, namely an Air Jordan 4 “Lakeshow” done up in Imperial Purple and Varsity Maize. Now the Air Jordan 1 Low enters the stage with a “Lakers” colorway of its own.
We should lead with the fact that the All-Star Game will actually take place at the home of the Clippers, but earlier events like the Celebrity Game and HBCU Classic will take place at the Kia Forum – the building Michael Jordan won his first NBA Championship in against Magic Johnson and the Lakers (and racked a triple-double in a full 48 minutes played).
The Air Jordan 1 Low here takes on the Lakers’ iconic palette with a University Gold toe box and Swoosh and Court Purple patent leather on the toe, eyelets, collar, and heel. White hits on the quarter, midsole, and Wings logo help reel things in, contrasted by black on the tongue, lining, and outsole.
The Air Jordan 1 Low “Lakers” is expected to release ahead of NBA All-Star Weekend, which runs from February 13th-15th this year. See official images below and visit our Jordan Release Dates page to browse more upcoming pairs.
