“Restoring the feeling” has been a focus for Nike, Inc. for several years at this point, a mission aimed at bringing consumers the same energy from the heights of sneaker collecting through the ages. We’ve seen the proverbial vault opened as a result, inspiring once-thought-impossible bring-backs from the Wu-Tang Dunk to 2027’s Eminem Jordan 4. Yet it’s still possible to tackle that objective on a more accessible level, as the Air Force 1 ’01 Triple Black” demonstrates.
The revival of the 2001 build has been in the ether since NIGO first previewed his “LO2” NOWHERE collab, reaching a fever pitch around the Knicks championship celebration when an MSG colorway went up for pre-order. Since then, we’ve continued to recieve signals that the ’01 composition would remain a factor even outside of those more limited engagements. Images of the “Triple Black” colorway featured here is the strongest indication to date, teeing up one of the more infamous GR colorways for wide distribution. Beyond the compositional changes that make this Y2K build noteworthy (supple leather, slimmer and shorter shape, slouchier heel, and increased padding), the flooded black colorway is intact, ready for any workplace or wrongdoings.
The Nike Air Force 1 ’01 “Triple Black” should be hitting retailers and Nike.com as part of the Fall/Winter slate. Expect a $130 retail price upon arrival.
