Joe Freshgoods Reveals A Third Chicago-Exclusive Colorway Of His New Balance 1890

by thesneakerscroll@gmail.com

Based off initial reactions and the attention drawn by his bevy of rollout materials, it would appear Joe Freshgoods has a bonafide “sneaker of the year contender” on his hands. Always considered in his source material, his duo of New Balance 1890 colorways that pulls from turn-of-the-century hip-hop and the music videos that accompanied the era’s biggest hits, no doubt his 13th project under the Boston brand will linger far beyond its release cadence.

As if the fire needed any more accelerant, Joe Freshgoods has just revealed yet another new design. Teasing throughout the week that his hometown of Chicago would see something special to coincide with this latest effort, the designer has now announced a pop-up/release party takeover of the city’s Museum of Contemporary Art. There, you’ll get your only chance to cop a third version of the Joe Freshgoods New Balance 1890, assumedly titled “Cut the Check.”

At least from these teaser shots, it appears to be a halfway point between the purple and red colorways we’ve already seen, as the same camo-like patterning at the foundation carries pops of both cool and hot tonality. Where it really gets wild is in its overlays and branding, delivering light green contrast coloring.

Again, only those who make it out to the Museum of Contemporary Art will get a chance to grab this tertiary variation. The activation takes place on Friday, April 24th from 7PM to 10PM. RSVP is required; you can do so at the link HERE.

Beyond this exclusive version, the full apparel collection and both general release colorways will be on offer. For those who missed out on the initial EQL drop, those red and purple pairs remain on track for an April 30th wide drop.
