Joe Freshgoods New Balance 1890 “Cut the Check”

Joe Freshgoods has unveiled a third Chicago-exclusive take on his New Balance 1890, giving his hometown a special pair tied to an April 24th activation at the Museum of Contemporary Art. The limited colorway, believed to be called “Cut the Check,” will only be available during the event, adding another layer to one of the most talked-about New Balance projects of the year.

Early images show a color mix that sits somewhere between the previously revealed red and purple versions. The upper keeps the same patterned base, but this pair adds brighter contrast through light green overlays and branding, giving the shoe a louder finish than the other two styles. That sharper palette gives the 1890 an even bolder look while keeping the same energy behind the rollout.

Chicago will be the only place to get this exclusive version, with the release party scheduled for Friday, April 24th from 7 PM to 10 PM at 220 E Chicago Ave. RSVP is required for entry, CLICK HERE, and the event will also feature the full apparel collection along with the other Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 1890 colorways.

The wider launch for the “Finger Waves” and “Naughty Things” pairs is still set for April 30th for anyone who missed the earlier EQL release. This Chicago-exclusive drop, though, gives the full Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 1890 rollout one more strong moment before the broader release hits.
