The WNBA offseason is always a whirlwind, but a massive free agency period, expansion draft, and, oh yeah, the one-time threat of a labor strike has made it feel especially taxing. For the league’s fans, a reprieve is finally on the way, as the WNBA regular season and all it entails tips off anew on May 8th.
Yet even if the games don’t count just yet, it doesn’t mean the W’s brightest can’t make headlines. As Caitlin Clark plots a comeback season to follow last, in which she and the Fever overall were very much bitten by the injury bug, she’s doing exactly that. Shown here is a new, delicately colored PE of the Nike Kobe 5, bearing similarities to one of CC’s favorite pieces of media in the Parent Trap. She’s referenced the yellow and blue movie poster on a mismatched Kobe 6 already, now buniting them on the predecessor model, diverging from its white foundation with a marbled outsole and Fever-approved red Sheath branding.
As always, the spectre of the impending Nike Caitlin Clark signature shoe looms over — anything #22 does on the court, really — but especially over any time she makes sneaker news. That eventual silhouette is still expected out for Fall 2026, a span from July to September, likely to debut on her feet sometime in the coming months.
