Jalen Brunson continued his impressive playoff performance with the Knicks by leading New York to erase a 22-point deficit against the Cleveland Cavaliers in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals. It was the Knicks’ largest playoff comeback since 1970, and Brunson took over down the stretch, forcing OT.
His shoes didn’t seem to get much attention compared to his play on the floor, but sneaker enthusiasts recognized them too. Brunson rocked a new Nike Kobe 5 Protro PE featuring a mint green upper with New York’s Statue of Liberty theme running throughout. Spray-painted artwork pops color all over the forefoot and heel, making these one of the louder schemes from his recent Kobe PE collection.
Brunson has made headlines every postseason by being a consistent provider of Nike Kobe exclusives, frequently wearing never-before-seen colorways during key playoff games. He has taken to Instagram explaining the backstory to several pairs as well, including a Kobe 5 he wore because of his daughter Jordyn’s onesie and a Kobe 3 Low Protro based off Dragon Ball Z.
Until further notice this Kobe 5 PE will always be synonymous with Brunson playing in them during one of the Knicks biggest playoff comebacks in recent memory.
