New Balance 992 “Pink Chalk” U992PK

by thesneakerscroll@gmail.com

If you know New Balance, you know some of the best Made in USA styles come out of nowhere. This latest New Balance 992 is a prime example, a clean, striking pastel take on one of the Boston brand’s most beloved dad shoes.

Pink Chalk does most of the heavy lifting, pinning down the mesh foundation, leather underlays, and suede overlays. A slightly brighter Pink Lemonade hue adds depth on the smaller elements, while a dark red Cherry Leather lands on the tongue, “N” logo, and midsole. Pink sneakers aren’t for everyone, but the contrast against New Balance’s typically muted Made in USA palette makes these stand out in the best way.

The sneaker shares some aesthetic DNA with the New Balance 990v4 “Pumpernickel,” that style also arriving as a non-series release. The pink 992 also immediately calls to mind Joe Freshgoods’ work on the model, including his grail-tier 2020 collab and the more recent “Aged Well” take.

The New Balance 992 “Pink Chalk” is starting to hit retailers now for $200, with a NewBalance.com release expected to follow shortly.
