Sometimes the future takes a little while to arrive. Nike is preparing an all-black GT Future for Holiday 2026, and although the colorway looks straightforward, it comes with a little history attached.
These are similar to one of the first GT Futures the public ever saw. Back during 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend, then-Nike NIL athlete AJ Dybantsa took the court at Nike’s Future Game wearing a mysterious, unreleased all-black basketball shoe. That sneaker would eventually be revealed as the GT Future, equipped with full-length Zoom Strobel, forefoot Zoom Air, and Cushlon 3.0 cushioning. That first appearance, along with rapper Wale putting the upcoming sneaker on the toe, gave the GT Future plenty of hype leading into its official launch later in 2025.
Fast forward roughly a year and a half and quite a bit has changed, because Dybantsa went on to become the first overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, while the GT Future has developed into one of the more recognizable members of Nike Basketball’s lifestyle-focused line-up.
The upcoming edition keeps things incredibly simple, coating the GT Future’s molded exterior and virtually everything else in black from top to bottom. While the “Black Cat” leaves little to imagination, the simplicity of all-black has always resonated to footwear fanatics.
The Nike GT Future “Black” is expected to release during Holiday 2026 for $210; see official images ahead for a closer look.
