Deion Sanders recently claimed that his signature line is only second to Michael Jordan’s within Beaverton, a bold claim but one that’s been backed up by the brand’s moves since reuniting with Prime Time. After wide acclaim for the Nike Air DT Max ’95, the Swoosh has been on go with the preceding Diamond Turf, letting loose a bevy of looks old and new as audiences readily accept the gridiron retro.
Perhaps the most intriguing move came with the “Proto 92,” a tinkered build of the Diamond Turf that shifted the Swoosh onto the midfoot strap and reportedly based its composition off of early samples before the two-sport superstar landed on a final design. Whereas the “Falcons” Diamond Turf incited comment section arguments as fans debated whether the gold accents warranted an anachronistic “49ers” moniker, here the Dirty Birds’ colorway is more undeniable, draping the upper in stealthy jet black suede with fabric “Fire Red” flares at the collar.
Though the remodeled Diamond Turf in “Proto” form remains intriguing, additional colorways are certainly a surprise, with some expecting the original white-dominant launch edition to be a one-off look rather than a new build that’d run alongside the parent model. However, this and a red colorway specially crafted for Deion Sanders Jr. indicate that the sample-based layout is very much here to stay. Be ready for the Nike Diamond Turf Proto 92 to touch down sometime during the Fall 2025 shopping season, retailing for $150.
