The adidas Samba has taken on some far-flung side jobs in its current red-hot era. While it was once tough to even grab inline versions of the terrace icon, now we’ve got the Samba Climbing, Samba Bowling, Samba Jane, and every modified version in between. Though the Samba has already experienced life as a mule at the behest of in-house adi designers, the Three Stripes recently enlisted Indian multi-brand boutique VegNonVeg for another go at the Samba Mule concept.
Undoubtedly, there’s more of a traditional edge with this collaboration, guided by VegNonVeg’s concept of pairing the country’s old tradition with modern trends. Their version of the Samba mule pulls from the Jutti, Mughal-era footwear that’s remained to this day as a go-to for easy-on, easy-out wear. Ornate detailing across the T-toe and a fused lace shroud add depth to the standard white-on-black colorway before gilded “VegNonVeg” branding sits atop the Three Stripes and the insoles toggle between patented red and green.
The VegNonVeg x adidas Samba Mule already launched earlier this month via the Indian brand’s channels, but is beginning to appear at global retailers, clocking in at approximately $160 (or equivalent). Catch official campaign images below.
