Following a GEL-QUANTUM 360 collaboration in 2024, Brazilian streetwear label CARNAN is reconvening with ASICS on the GEL-Cumulus 16. And at the risk of speaking too soon, it might very well go down as one of the best ASICS collabs of the year.
Marking the latest chapter in an ongoing collab series called “Path,” CARNAN and co. introduce the sneaker with a nuanced storytelling narrative centered around “continuous exchange, the freedom to experiment, and the trust built at every stage of the process.” That layered inspiration manifests literally in the form of a rich combination of different textures. The overlays are done in purple suede, followed by open mesh netting with tasteful green hits underneath. The eyelets opt for a hairier suede fabric, the forefoot features leather detailing, and exposed accent stitching appears sporadically yet tastefully. Blue text reading “Path” appears on the heel, while the midsole keeps things simple in black.
Each color is said to represent something: purple represents the CARNAN x ASICS partnership, green represents continuous growth, and black represents continuity and stability. Of course, all that doesn’t really mean anything if the shoe doesn’t look good. In this case, these things came out beautifully, so much so that this particular sneaker writer thinks it’s one of the best ASICS collabs of the year so far (right alongside the Up There x ASICS GEL-Kayano 20).
The CARNAN x ASICS GEL-Cumulus 16 “Path II” releases August 19th, 2026 via CARNAN’s website, flagship store, and the ASICS Brazil website and selected ASICS retail locations. A larger global retailer drop goes down the following day. See detailed images below if you’ll be going for a pair.
