Just as the Nike Air Bakin’ prepares for its biggest moment in nearly three decades, Jae Tips is putting his unmistakable stamp on the cult-favorite basketball shoe. Ahead of ComplexCon 2026, the Bronx designer offered a first look at his upcoming Jae Tips x Nike Air Bakin’ Low, one of two expected to release this Spring 2027.
As expected, the Air Bakin’ goes heavy on color and features a predominantly light purple upper accompanied by a green interior lining, blue laces, and a black outsole. Two miniature interlocking Swooshes appear at the forefoot, while Jae Tips’ familiar “SAVIOR” branding takes over the tongue while also infusing into the AIR on the heel.
Originally released in 1997, the Air Bakin’ has remained a cult favorite despite spending much of the past three decades outside Nike’s regular Retro rotation. That’s about to change with its most significant comeback since its original run, including the return of its original Varsity Red and Varsity Royal colorways for the first time.
Collaborations are part of the equation, with Jae Tips bringing the Bakin’ to an entirely different generation in a new Low-top form. These are significantly different from the in-line Air Bakin Low revealed by Nike Sportswear.
Release details for the Jae Tips x Nike Air Bakin’ have yet to be confirmed, but with Jae Tips revealing the shoe just ahead of ComplexCon 2026, expect plenty more information to emerge soon. Two colorways are expected this Spring 2027.
