JD Sports Pays Tribute To 110 Culture With A Nike Air Max 95 Teaser In Liverpool

Something big’s brewing over in Liverpool. JD Sports has taken to Instagram with a teaser suggesting an Air Max 95 release or activation on October 1st for “110 Day,” a nod to the model’s longstanding nickname in the UK.

The teaser shows the iconic Air Max 95 logo with “Liverpool” text in the center being projected onto the George’s Dock Building. While we can speculate, we don’t entirely know what it implies. We could very well be getting another Air Max 95 “Liverpool” a la last year’s JD Sports-exclusive release, though the soccer club’s subsequent move from Nike to adidas somewhat complicates any potential use of the official crest. The second most likely option is that JD Sports is planning some sort of general Air Max 95 activation in Liverpool, the city long thought to be the cultural home of the runner turned lifestyle icon.

It’s also possible, while of course unconfirmed, that JD Sports has broader plans to celebrate “110 Day” globally, simply using Liverpool as the jumping off point. To the uninitiated, the “110” nickname traces back to the 1990s, when the Air Max 95 cost £110 in the UK, originally spoken as something of a flex. October 1st, or 1/10 in the DD/MM date format, therefore becomes “110 Day.”

In any case, it shouldn’t take long for JD Sports’ plans to come to light. We’ll circle back with any and all applicable updates.
