Much has been made about the “Foamposite revival.” As fashion trends and sneaker waves continue to operate on the same old circular cadence, Penny Hardaway’s tank-like silhouette has been a frequent topic as the new “it” retro model. When, if ever, it’ll once again be the most head-turning sneaker remains to be seen, but there’s little doubt that Foams are at a new apex in terms of overall influence within the walls at Nike.
Beyond having clear ties to current basketball icons like the Nike KD 19 and GT Future, the Swoosh has launched a concerted effort to cross Foamposite tech into disparate performance categories. First up was the Vapor X Posite, revisiting the synthetic material’s heyday in tennis. Next up is another step in the “cleat heat” lane, following the “Pearl” debut with more Nike Vaporposite Pro colorways, making true game-day style out of some of the silhouette’s most essential colorways.
Though lacking the metallic gloss and taking some liberties in terms of exact color codes, the “Varsity Royal” and “University Red” live on with these field-ready applications, crucially swapping to white Swoosh details on the siding. In addition to these new sporty looks, the “Pearl” is also on its way back to shelves.
All three Nike Vaporposite Pro colorways discussed here are dropping on July 30th, retailing for $210. Catch studio shots below and watch our Sneaker Release Dates page for full stockist info as it comes available.
