Reebok Revives The Pump On Their Next-Gen Basketball Shoe

Ever since their unveiling, there’s been a lot riding on Reebok’s new generation of hoops shoes. The first new products under the Reebok Basketball imprint since the days of Shaquille O’Neal and Allen Iverson (not coincidentally the figures tasked with charting the path into the future for the label), the Engine A, Engine A 26, and Angel Reese 1 have all done an admirable job of establishing a fresh design language and a workable foundation for even more from the brand.

Yet even within the bounds of that work, there’s still room to pay homage to the icons that have come before. One such opportunity is at hand with the Reebok Engine A “Pump,” obviously pulling from the iconic cushioning tech that captivated fans in the ’90s. Beyond the actual tech, the Pump OG, Pump TZ, and other models from the product family live on with a classic black/white/orange look. At least to our knowledge, these won’t actually need to be pressed to activate the technology, as the Engine A holds onto an ERS platform underfoot, but that nostalgia-driven touch is still as stylish today as it has been for the past three decades.
