The New Balance Abzorb 2000 Enters Its Leather Era

The pace at which New Balance has been able to roll out new lifestyle models and then iterate on them has been truly applaudable. The 1906 series is probably the best example, but no matter where you look, pretty much every New Balance retro runner has a family of its own, each version appealing to a different aesthetic avenue.

Here we have the New Balance 2000L, a spin on the 2000 that caters more to traditionalist sensibilities. Where the 2000 proper sports flush synthetic layering for a somewhat sleek identity, the 2000L is more defined, with distinct leather panels adding depth and doing well to complement the chunky ABZORB SBS cushioning underfoot. This “Thunder Brown” makeup emerges on the heels of a dad shoe-esque white and navy build, standing out as a solid autumn option with a monochrome, earthy palette.

The New Balance 2000L “Thunder Brown” lands Fall/Winter 2026 via New Balance and select retailers, and more colorways are certainly in the works throughout the final quarter. No price has been announced yet, though the model will likely sit above the base version at $170 or more.
