The Nike Air Max Plus Flips Its “Lava Lamp” Colorway In Grey

Nike has always loved a series, but the brand has felt increasingly willing to reduce the lead time between special editions and their “sequels.” Further, they’ve been far more prone to debut new touches in bunches, as the Air Force 1 could plainly tell you with a variety of “Woven” colorways, the Air Max 90 could show with a run of “Racing” pairs, or the countless groups of Dunks have demonstrated.

Usually restricted to simple palette flips, the Nike Air Max Plus is gaining steam with a rare special edition series, which we’ve titled the “Lava Lamp.” Woozy shifts at the sidewalls are what lead us to that aesthetic jumping-off point. Iridescent hues in those “new” sections now pair with a similarly flooded by differently toned foundation beneath, here reaching for a steely “Smoke Grey.”

The Nike Air Max Plus “Lava Lamp” in grey is likely to accompany the black colorway to shelves sometime in the coming months. Be ready for the usual $190 retail price upon arrival.
