The Whitaker Group Mashes Up Two adidas Icons With The BW Mundial

Especially through the A Ma Maniere imprint, the Whitaker Group has built out a reputation as arguably the high-volume collaborator of its era, with James Whitner letting loose dozens of takes on both beloved and cresting Nike, Inc. designs. Though the name attached has changed, that same workaholic ethos has crossed over from Oregon to Germany; the newfound partners’ “Do Not Disturb” collection has made good on its title by staying in action mode, churning out product at a truly unbelievable clip.

Over that time and breadth of product, some of the Whitaker Group’s favored silhouettes have risen to the top, with the adidas BW Army clearly being one that’s closest to their heart. After featuring in their rangy initial collection and a cowboy-inspired follow-up, the Atlanta consortium has gotten experimental, mashing up the BW with additional adi icons like the SL 72 and the Superstar/Campus.

As we build to the World Cup final, the “GAT” gets another new build, taking on fútbol-inspired details from the Mundial Indoor. Making good on that brand history, the obvious starting point is a black-and-white formulation, where scalloped suede edges and nylon branding help push beyond a simple mash-up. A more resplendent blue/navy version, with faux-aged midsoles and a refined cream/tan palette, provides additional aesthetic direction.

The Whitaker Group x adidas BW Mundial collection is already available via Social Status, A Ma Maniere, and JAIDE. All three colorways clock in at $160. Should your size be sold out, or should you prefer to accrue some adiCLUB points while you’re at it, a wide launch via adidas.com is coming on July 23rd.
