Tom Sachs’ Nike General Purpose Shoe Returns On September 30th

Tom Sachs is back in the fold with Nike, and from a consumer standpoint, it’s like the man never left. Following their once-indefinite hiatus, the multi-hyphenate returned to the top of the resale market with his third “Mars Yard” silhouette, with a Mars Yard 4.0 reportedly already in the works for the coming years. For his devotees, luckily you won’t need to wait until that fourth chapter comes about to bring Sachs product into your closet in the meantime, as the Nike General Purpose Shoe itself picks up where it left off.

In the wake of the 3.0, the General Purpose Shoe was already a major factor, becoming the “Loser Shoe” in a brightened colorway for those who fell short of the ultimate prize at the end of I.S.R.U. camp. Beyond that consolation prize, a “Bricolage” colorway suddenly appeared on his site, at retailers, and on SNKRS in April, coming a bit after we first caught sight of this refreshed black leather/gum build.

At long last, the mystery around this darkened colorway is lifting, as assorted overseas stockists begin to put up concrete listings on their release calendars. Besides the material switch-up in the upper, this version sticks to the utilitarian mission with a simplified overall colorway; royal blue pull-tabs and white Swooshes and heel cups are the only things that interrupt this nocturnal layout.

As mentioned above, the Tom Sachs x Nike General Purpose Shoe in “Black/White/Team Royal” is confirmed for a September 30th release via European storefronts.
