At a point when it seemed like every brand was rushing to stock the shelves with as many throwback runners as possible, Nike took a different sort of step in the lifestyle lane with the Nike Ava Rover, leaning into chunky aesthetics and offering a chance for their then solely performance-focused ReactX cushioning to come to consumer’s everyday.
Yet with the introduction of the Nike Ava X, things shifted back into a trendier direction. Though the overall contours from the Ava proper remained, a slimmer build made the shoe instantly read as sportier and faster. That only continues as the product family introduces the Nike Ava Edge. The grooved, tech-forward sole design has been a hallmark of the two steps before, but immediately the edge pushes that further; notches between the lines lean into a gridded, pixelated composition underfoot.
Even more impactfully, that continues into the upper for the Ava Edge, embracing an even more futuristic profile than we’ve seen from Ava yet. Trust that thinned upper construction should mean these remain as lightweight despite the new synthetic reinforcement up top, and it appears that this shoe still builds off of ReactX.
The Nike Ava Edge is expected to touch down sometime in the Summer/Fall window. Retail pricing is currently unconfirmed. As we sort out those particulars, catch official images below depicting this intial grey/blue gradient look.
