While the Air Jordan 4 “Toro” is already shaping up to be one of the biggest sneaker releases of the Summer, Jordan Brand is giving New York City consumers an additional reason to pay close attention this weekend.
Coinciding with the global launch of the highly anticipated retro, the Jumpman is introducing a special collectible initiative exclusively through JD Sports Bay Plaza in the Bronx. Available on a first come, first served basis, the activation centers around an ultra-limited hang-tag collectible tied specifically to the “Toro” release. This special hang-tag mimics highway signage and features the boroughs of Queens and the Bronx with the 278 Interstate logo.
According to details shared with Sneaker News, the “Toro” hang-tag marks the first of six total collectible drops planned throughout the year, each tied to random launch moments across New York City retail locations. The initiative appears designed specifically to reward the city’s most tapped-in sneaker consumer, the type willing to show up, stay connected, and actively chase each individual release as they surface throughout the calendar year.
Naturally, Jordan Brand is keeping the broader details intentionally vague, but we can confirm that something special is planned the collectors that successfully secure all six pieces. For now, the brand is only teasing that those who complete the full set “might be in for a surprise.”
Given both the popularity of the Air Jordan 4 “Toro” itself and the exclusivity surrounding the collectible element, expect turnout at JD Sports Bay Plaza to be especially competitive this Saturday because this special hang-tag version is will be available first-come-first-served only.
