PJ Tucker And His The Better Generation Collab On The Nike GT Future

In case you missed it, PJ Tucker has called it a career in the NBA, retiring a champion and one of the defining “do the dirty work” role players of his era. For any of our readership, his legacy should go far beyond the stat sheet, as we and so many other outlets have continually crowned him the “king of sneakers” in pro basketball.

After years of dominating “tunnel fit” galleries with PE Jordans and other neck-breaking rarities, Tucker finally began to carve out an official relationship with Beaverton in the realm of public releases. His first collaboration came with a sky blue version of the Nike Air Flight ’89 limited to under 500 units, establishing the precedent that the Texas product could move product by the grace of his legendary taste and collection.

Hot off the heels of that retirement announcement, PJ Tucker and his The Better Generation shop in Houston are taking their talents to the Nike GT Future. The man himself took to social media to tease the upcoming shared design, bringing a lively pink/purple gradient to the next-century silhouette. Yet beyond those broad-stroke impressions, the details are already looking impressive. Both Swooshes execute an all-over “17” print for Tucker’s jersey number, while a similar logo sits just under the heel on the interior, where we also spot woozy checkerboard graphics and “001-2000” embroidery alluding to this shoe’s overall rarity.

Interestingly, The Better Generation has seemingly pushed back on that final detail for this GT Future, responding to a tweet claiming it’s limited to just 2000 pairs by claiming it’s “wayyyyy more limited fs [sic].” Further, the store details that this early look is far ahead of when this collab will actually touch down.
