The musician-to-footwear pipeline has never been stronger in a post-Ye landscape where Travis Scott shoes are the biggest game in town and footwear brands scramble over each other to secure the talents of stars like ROSE, Bad Bunny, or Karol G. For adidas’ part, getting Peso Pluma to put pen to paper and their continuing support of multi-hyphenate Edison Chen with his CLOT label.
J-Pop icon and King Gnu frontman Daiki Tsuneta briefly became a piece of that musical mosaic, tabbed in 2022 by atmos and the Three Stripes for a chilly blue overhaul of the Superstar. Four years later, Tsuneta has founded his Pointless Journey label, now his representative as he doubles the amount of offerings for round two. All told, both pairs skew simplistic, kitted with refined suede bodies but mixing up the usual formula with two sets of attachable lace shrouds, either mirroring that core tonality or tied to the blue hits on the heel. In a clever touch, the typical adi branding above the Three Stripes is here replaced by gilded “POINTLESS” text.
The Pointless Journey x atmos x adidas Superstar releases on April 24th via Pointless Journey and atmos, with raffles open via either site.
