If flooded lines in front of sneaker stores is your metric for the health of the hobby, the Air Jordan 11 “Gamma” was ambrosia. Following countless think pieces on the status of Jordan Brand in the sneaker landscape, the first retro for the 2013 colorway evoked scenes from the peak of the holiday AJ11 hype; will we see a repeat performance this week?
Push notifications for an Air Jordan 11 “Gamma” drop/restock went out today, April 16th, leading users to the SNKRS Map tab within Nike’s digital ecosystem. Beyond promising it as an “upcoming event” at their newly opened Nike SoHo temporary space at 611 Broadway, taking place from 10 AM to 8 PM, as Snobette’s Lois Sakany noted on social media, a display case within the store teased this drop for those who made it out to the store.
Beyond offering fans a second chance at the totemic ’25 pair, this adds arguably the biggest moment to date for the nascent SNKRS Map program, an in-app feature that’s been, candidly, rather undeveloped to this point. Some of the fan feedback has singled out the fact that it’s only available in New York City, a location that already receives plenty of love from both the Swoosh and a host of other notable retailers/collaborators. If Maps is to indeed become a major part of the SNKRS landscape, this is certainly a surefire way to bring eyes to it once again.
Stay tuned for more information on this release, including if there are any sort of reserve or pre-order stipulations, but to our knowledge, this will be a FCFS drop. Brace yourself if so.
