1990 was a brilliant year for soccer (sorry, football) in the British Isles. England put on its best World Cup performance since 1966, Scotland qualified for the fifth consecutive time, and the Republic of Ireland made its first-ever appearance on the world stage, a huge moment of national pride for a country that had formalized its independence four decades prior. Now closing in on four decades after that key year (can you believe it), size? and adidas are taking us all on a nostalgia trip with an exclusive “City Series” pack rooted in kit lore.
First up is the adidas London, a white colorway with navy stripes and gum soles drawn from England’s 1990 home shirt. The adidas Dublin pulls from the Republic of Ireland’s kit, arriving in a green upper with orange stripes. Last is the adidas Glasgow, built on the Handball Spezial silhouette and referencing Scotland’s polo-collared home jersey with a black upper and navy blue stripes.
Draws for the adidas Originals “90s City Series” pack open tomorrow, May 16th, and close May 21st, exclusively via size?. Retail is set at £100, roughly $135 before shipping. Detailed pics below if you’ll be going for a pair.
